On January 5, 2017, at 1916 hrs., Montgomery dispatched PE717 as 3rd due engine and A717 was dispatched on the 2nd alarm in Co. 40's area. Arriving units arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing. Immediately, a 2nd alarm was requested. The main fire building did collapse due to heavy fire conditions. During this time RS717 had been transferred to Station 8 as Gaithersburg was also dealing with a house fire in their area. The cause of both fires are still under investigation.
