On Monday, December 8, 2014, around 10:46 AM, Montgomery dispatched Co. 17 units along with other surrounding stations for a plane crash. The crash happened at 19724 Drop Forge Lane in Gaithersburg, MD. First arriving units arrived on scene to a 2 story single family home fully evolved with fire were the plane had crashed. Two other nearby homes were also on on fire. Firefighters immediately began to get the fire under control. Once the fire was under control, firefighters were able to enter the structure to begin search and rescue of any patients. 6 were found and were confirmed dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
