| In the early hours of October 5, 2026, Montgomey dispatched Rescue Engine 717, Tanker 717, and Ambulance 717 alongside Companies 28, 13, 34, 08, and 40 to a reported barn fire in the 22300 block of Laytonsville Road near Griffith Road. At 2:15am, Rescue Engine 717 arrived on scene and reported that a large barn was fully engulfed in flames. The Water Supply Task Force, including HC Tanker 4, Tanker 735, Tanker 722, and Engine 729, was dispatched at 2:21am to assist in fire suppression efforts. Rapid Intervention resources, such as Truck 724, Tower 704, Ambulance 728, Medic 708, and EMS705, were also dispatched at 2:21am. Canteen 717 responded to the scene at 2:25am to provide support for personnel. By 2:27am, the incident command reported that most of the barn structure had collapsed. Tower 708 began flowing water from its master stream at 2:42am to control the fire. Command was terminated at 7:46am, though units from Company 17 remained on scene to assist as heavy equipment worked to move debris. Due to the large amount of hay stored inside, the fire is expected to burn for several days. |
