On March 22, 2014, the Town of Laytonsville finally received city water. Laytonsville's Mayor Dan Prats spoke at the ceremony along with former Mayor Willard Oland, County Council Member Nancy Floreen, Senator Karen Montgomery, House Delegate Craig Zucker, LDVFD Chief Buddy Sutton, and Community Developer Tom Natelli.

Mayor Oland worked on this system for years, retiring just before construction began, so the Town asked him to "Open the system" he helped create.
